Cuyahoga Community College Corporate College East
Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland, OH
Challenge:
To meet the regional need for meeting spaces for training events, offsite annual meetings and conferences, Cuyahoga Community College focused its commitment to the non-academic and professional growth training industry. The resulting development was their $30 million Corporate College East facility. Our company was tasked with incorporating audiovisual technology into a large-scale conferencing space, keeping in mind the integrity of the architectural design. Referred to as the Tri-C Super Conference Center, our teams equipped this space with flexible, state-of-the-art AV technology that could meet the venue's various requirements.
Solution:
The main conference room is one of the standout features of this facility. Equipped with a portable lecture dais to provide greater flexibility for the lecturer, there are also 20' x 30' audiovisual screens built into the 35' high ceiling over two of the walls. To absorb the sound reflection, nine acoustical fabric wall hangings adorn the perforated wooden walls on one side of the facility.
Whether a classroom seats 40, 50 or 120 students, the necessary technology is now integrated to aid each training session. For example, a two-way TV screen is included in the smaller classrooms to encourage distance learners interaction with local students. To minimize acoustical challenges, wooden walls are perforated in most of the classrooms. Additionally, each room is outfitted with a ceiling mounted AV screen, built-in whiteboards, an Internet server, and raised flooring.
A triangularly-shaped table complements the uniquely-designed boardroom, while at the same time encourages face-to-face communication between the students. Individual microphones and computer connections are concealed within the boardroom table. A videoconferencing system also adds extra flexibility for distance learners to participate in the campus training class. Our teams also installed an enhanced computer connection, providing each student with access to the Tri-C network in order to share information via the videoconferencing system, or manage their video and computer content. Additionally, a 65" plasma display is mounted on the wall, allowing for an unobstructed view of all images. The wireless touch panel control system features a graphic interface designed specifically to manage the AV system in the executive boardroom.
