Design and Installation

Challenge:

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL, Raymond James Financial Center is located in the heart of the Tampa Bay area. As a nationally recognized firm with over 2,200 locations, 4,700 employees and over one million accounts, Raymond James specializes in innovative investment and financial planning alternatives. As such, the leadership of Raymond James sought to implement state-of-the-art AV technology that would enhance their presentation and communications abilities within their primary auditorium, with a focus on audio/videoconferencing capabilities. The Raymond James auditorium, which holds approximately 400, is equipped with a slide partition that can be used based on participant attendance and meeting purpose. It was important to the client that if the auditorium was divided into two sections, each presentation space could efficiently act independent of the other.

Solution:

Key components of this installation lie in the simplicity and flexibility of its operations, without sacrificing the quality of the technology utilized. When operating as two "separate" spaces, each area of the Raymond James auditorium is equipped a large tensioned 9'x 12' projection screen by Draper, with the aid of Christie projectors to transmit high-quality images. Two supplemental 57" NEC displays are featured on each side of the larger unit, promoting maximum visibility for each audience member. Each podium is equipped with 15" AMX touch panels, which allow the presenter to control basic functions such as volume level. Two wireless microphones are equipped within each "separate" room, and tied into the audio/videoconferencing system. Additionally, two cameras are installed on each side of the auditorium, with one in the front to scan the audience and another towards the back to give long distance participants a comprehensive view of the presenter and the display material. Presentation material can effectively be viewed and recorded throught the use of Panasonic's VHS/DVD combo units.

For Raymond James, it was important to provide a high level of versatility to the newly integrated technology. While the lecturer has the ability to control basic operations, they can also let their session be completely be handled by a primary operator stationed in a customized control room. From here, the operator has the ability to manage all AV technology using an AMX control system.
