Mission: Share Innovations

SAS, one of the largest privately held software companies in the world, sought to showcase its leadership in business analytics. From its Cary, N.C., headquarters, the high-tech company wanted its new executive briefing center and office tower to reflect the innovative solutions they deliver to their customers.

SAS has been ranked one of the top places to work in the U.S since 1998, and is regularly listed among top workplaces worldwide. Not only are they great to their employees, but also to the environment. The facility has a green roof, solar power, and recycles water for landscaping. The campus also includes two solar farms that generate power for the local grid.

The new space consolidated sales, marketing and corporate executives into a single location on the expansive campus. As a result, staff can easily engage with guests and clients from all over the world for educational services and sales purposes.

Action: Build for the Future

Known on the SAS HQ campus as Building C, the facility comprises the executive briefing center, an office tower for employees, a gourmet market-concept food court and a coffee shop. As the second largest building at the SAS Cary headquarters, the building is 287,190 square feet and has 683 offices.

To achieve a collaborative environment, the executive briefing center features two auditoriums, nine briefing rooms and three executive dining/conference rooms, supported by projection rooms, control rooms and green rooms. The building’s auditorium is equipped for two-way communication with large format displays, video magnification and video conferencing. It also has four Christie Video Walls showcasing SAS products, future planning, environment and executive messaging.

The six-story office tower incorporates several large and small multifunctional conference rooms on each floor, some of which include video conferencing. All rooms contain a Crestron Roomview management system and room scheduling solution. The lobby features a large MicroTile touch screen wall that can be customized as a backdrop for event registration, and a second MicroTile display running videos. This installation was one of the largest deployments of Panasonic 103” panels in a single facility in the world.

AVI-SPL has an office on premises to provide technical support when any issues arise.

Impact: Collaboration From a Central Location

“The feedback from SAS has been very positive about the project, and working with them has been great,” says Will Parry, AVI-SPL VP of sales for performance venues.

SAS has hosted more than 8,000 visitors in the center and the various client meetings and events that were held at other venues now take place on site.
