Mission: Improve the Patron Experience
Dave & Buster’s is an entertainment venue with the motto “Eat. Drink. Play.” To emphasize the “play,” they teamed up with AVI-SPL to upgrade their AV systems for entertainment at their Tempe, Arizona, location.
“Our objectives were simply to provide the best in sports viewing for our guests, integrated into the environment in a manner that is consistent with Dave & Buster’s high-quality standards and wide range of things to do,? says Mike Plunkett, senior vice president for Dave & Buster’s.
Action: Expansive Entertainment, Simplified
“The advancements made in touch screens and system controls allow our managers to put the games our guests want to see on the right displays at the right time, quickly and easily.” – Mike Plunkett, senior vice president, Dave & Buster’s
AVI-SPL’s team integrated displays, projectors, and screen controls into a variety of Dave and Buster’s themed areas, allowing the venue to tailor its entertainment to the patrons. We also implemented a control system that makes it easy for management to control the distribution of the various video and audio signals.
“This upgrade provides consistency and ease-of-use,” says Account Executive Jeremy Blanton, AVI-SPL. “Previous rooms were a mix of control systems from several different manufacturers, including both push-button and touch panel systems,” he adds. “Our team also designed a more cost-effective method, with better quality to distribute the video signals over Cat5e cables.”
Other hard-wired, wall-mounted touch panels or controllers are used in each of the special events rooms.
In the Midway Bar, two Christie projectors display images on 10-foot screens from Da-Lite. The ViewPoint Bar features 12 Samsung displays for viewing sporting events.
Impact: The Right Entertainment at the Right Time
Patrons are welcomed into Dave & Buster’s with video display greetings, as well as meeting updates from the special events coordinator.
Digital signage displays highlight the entrances to special event rooms, restrooms and the main entrance/reception area. Comprehensive paging and zoned audio minimize noise levels.
A Crestron control system gives the operator the ability to preview and select DIRECTV channels on all DIRECTV receivers, and view the security TV system and route the Dave & Buster’s TV music video server.
“The advancements made in touch screens and system controls allow our managers to put the games our guests want to see on the right displays at the right time, quickly and easily. It’s also a big advantage to be able to power all the sets on and off from a central location. This not only saves time, it also conserves a lot of energy,” says Plunkett.
