Mission: Bring Legal Experts Face to Face
One of the world’s largest law practices, the Mayer Brown team includes more than 1,400 attorneys across seven U.S. offices and six European offices. The firm wanted its new office in Chicago to provide more sophisticated methods for long-distance communication and presentations. AVI-SPL partnered with the firm to achieve their goals by integrating modern video communication solutions.
Action: Technology That Adapts to Needs
The new Chicago office consists of 33 meeting rooms, eight of which have integrated collaborative communication systems. The rest of the meeting rooms utilize portable systems as needed. In the largest conference rooms, as well a Town Hall, Crestron control systems were programmed and installed, allowing for easy use of all conference room devices. Digital Panasonic projectors and automatic voice reinforcement equipment offer variety of communication. A video conferencing codec was integrated into a centralized control room so that it can be accessed from any of the collaborative rooms.
The Town Hall is a versatile room that can be separated by moveable walls to form three separate rooms. Four ceiling-mounted projectors provide high-resolution images for video conferencing and presentation images.
The firm’s office also hosts a mock courtroom, which incorporates three 60″ NEC displays located at the front of the room for easy viewing from the judicial bench/witness stand, attorneys’ tables, and jury box. The courtroom is also outfitted with microphones and 11 ceiling speakers to increase audio clarity, as well as a video conferencing codec to enhance communications. The mock courtroom’s technology is managed by a Crestron control system and includes a wall-mounted touch panel with AV pushbuttons for use at the lectern. Additionally, the defense and prosecution tables are equipped with Crestron touch panels. All proceedings can be recorded by three strategically placed cameras.
Impact: The Ability to Be Present — From Anywhere
The video communications systems at the new Mayer Brown office allows team members to present to clients and collaborate with teams across the firm’s 13 offices. Sophisticated control systems make the audio video systems in the meeting rooms and mock courtroom easy to use for anyone visiting the office.
