As a Microsoft Surface Hub 3 power user, I’m always happy to share how this collaboration device empowers flexible teamwork anywhere, every day. After working closely with Microsoft solutions, particularly Surface Hub, for years, I have come to understand how Microsoft gathers intelligence to track the pulse of today’s workplace and user experience expectations.

I’m always impressed by how their development teams respond to customer requests when planning upgrades. The latest news about Surface Hub 3 features is no exception.

Here are some of the latest available and “coming soon” tools that I’m excited to share.

Miracast: Targeting Q4 2025

Miracast wireless projection is back with Surface Hub 3, allowing users to seamlessly project and share content from their PC to the Hub. This feature is particularly beneficial for:

  • Effortless content sharing: Easily share presentations, documents, and other content without needing an internet connection.
  • Interactive collaboration: Use touch and pen to interact with projected content on the Hub display, enhancing the collaborative experience.

Miracast makes it simple to share and interact with content, improving the flow of meetings and collaborative sessions..

Edge Browser Integration: Targeting Q3 2025

Surface Hub 3 now includes Edge browser integration, providing access to websites, third-party web apps, and personal content. Key benefits include:

  • Web-based tools: Access web-based applications and tools directly from the Hub.
  • Personal content: Easily access and manage personal content within web apps.
  • Enhanced security: Edge runs in Kiosk Mode to ensure privacy and security for shared devices.

This integration enables users to harness the full potential of the web, making Surface Hub 3 a versatile tool for various business needs.

Console Support: Targeting Q2 2025

Surface Hub 3 supports Universal Consoles certified for Teams Rooms, enabling easy control of the Hub from a center-of-table console.

  • Centralized control: Manage meetings, mute/unmute, and control the camera from a single console.
  • Proximity join: Use ultrasound support for seamless proximity join when using a Universal Console.
  • Content sharing: Easily share content to the Hub using wired connections through the console.

Console support simplifies meeting management and enhances the user experience, making it easier to control and interact with the Hub.

Speaker Recognition and Facilitator: Available Now

AI-powered experiences, such as Speaker Recognition and Facilitator, are now available on Surface Hub 3.

  • Speaker recognition: Identifies individual speakers and attributes their speech in transcripts and meeting recaps.
  • Facilitator: Acts as a virtual assistant, taking notes, tracking decisions, and creating follow-up tasks.

These AI-driven features enhance productivity and collaboration, ensuring that meetings are more efficient and organized.

QR Code Join: Available Now

QR code join allows users to quickly join meetings by scanning a QR code with their mobile device.

  • Quick access: Easily join meetings and enter Room Companion Mode on the Teams mobile app.
  • Ad-hoc meetings: Start ad-hoc meetings or cast content from mobile to the Hub display.

QR code join streamlines the process of joining meetings, making it faster and more convenient for users.

Digital Signage

Digital signage support is now available on Surface Hub 3, allowing for the customization of the home screen for various purposes.

  • Inform and Educate: Use digital signage to share company news, announcements, and training tips.
  • Third-Party Integration: Manage content and playlists using third-party content management systems.

Digital signage transforms the Hub into a versatile communication tool, enhancing its functionality beyond meetings.

Comprehensive Security Measures

In addition to upgrades, security features are top of mind. I hear from AVI-SPL customers how security is essential when teams meet and share content. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that Surface Hub 3 is equipped with robust security features to protect your business data and comply with industry standards.

  • BitLocker: Encrypts data to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Trusted Platform Module 2.0: Provides hardware-based security to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud: Offers advanced threat protection and real-time monitoring.
  • Pro Management Portal: Enables IT administrators to manage and monitor devices remotely.
  • Endpoint Device Compliance: Ensures that all devices meet security and compliance requirements.
