Meeting Room
Reference Designs

Global meeting room technology standards designed to support your environmental sustainability goals.

AVI-SPL Sustainability-Screened Reference Designs help organizations make informed technology decisions by identifying meeting room solutions that meet objective sustainability screening requirements.
Using an objective, evidence-based screening methodology, AVI-SPL evaluates Reference Designs against key sustainability considerations, including manufacturer climate commitments, recycled content, energy efficiency, and product carbon footprint transparency.
These standardized meeting room designs make it easier to deploy consistent collaboration experiences globally while supporting environmental sustainability objectives.

When you choose a Sustainability-Screened Reference Design, you benefit from:

  • TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS BACKED BY MANUFACTURER CLIMATE ACTION.

Sustainability-screened designs incorporate products from manufacturers with Science Based Targets (SBTs) and established decarbonization commitments.

  • PRODUCTS DESIGNED WITH RECYCLED MATERIALS.

Sustainability-screened designs prioritize products that incorporate documented recycled content in product components and materials.

  • ENERGY-EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY CHOICES.

Qualified products include recognized energy-efficiency certifications and ratings that support lower operational energy consumption.

  • IMPROVED CARBON FOOTPRINT TRANSPARENCY.

Sustainability-screened designs include products supported by verified Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data, helping customers access more meaningful environmental information.

  • CONSISTENT GLOBAL STANDARDS.

AVI-SPL’s standardized Reference Designs simplify deployment, scalability, and lifecycle management across locations worldwide.

Sustainability-Screened by Design.

A sustainability-screened Reference Design demonstrates four sustainability qualifiers:

  1. Manufacturer Science Based Targets
  2. Recycled content
  3. Energy efficiency
  4. Product carbon footprint transparency.

Objective and evidence-based

AVI-SPL conducts sustainability screening at the Reference Design level using publicly available and manufacturer-provided documentation. Sustainability-screened designs must satisfy defined screening requirements across all four sustainability qualifiers.

Built for informed decision-making

The sustainability screening process is designed to help customers better understand the environmental characteristics of meeting room technology solutions and support more informed purchasing decisions.

Transparency where it matters

As product-level sustainability data becomes increasingly available, AVI-SPL continues to evaluate and identify Reference Designs that provide customers with greater visibility into product materials, energy performance, climate commitments, and carbon footprint data.

About AVI-SPL Sustainability Screening

An AVI-SPL Reference Design passes the sustainability screening only if it meets or exceeds the threshold requirements established for each of the four screening qualifiers listed above.

Important definitions:

  • “Eligible products” means the powered hardware products specified within a Reference Design bill of materials (BOM), including displays, collaboration devices, video bars, cameras, schedulers, controllers, audio devices, and other powered electronics. Eligible Products do not include cables, adapters, mounts, brackets, racks, consumables, or other non-powered accessories.
  • “Science Based Targets” means validated Near-Term or Net-Zero targets publicly recorded as active in the SBTi database.
  • “Recycled Content” means manufacturer-disclosed recycled material incorporated into the product or its physical components, including the housing, chassis, and other product components. Recycled content contained solely within packaging does not qualify.
  • “Energy-Rated Products” means Eligible Products for which a recognized energy-efficiency certification or rating program exists.
  • “Recognized energy-efficiency certification or rating” means ENERGY STAR certification; EU Energy Label Class C or better; or China Energy Label Grade 2 or better.
  • “Verified Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data” means greenhouse gas emissions calculations that have been independently audited or assured by a qualified third party and verified for conformance with recognized standards (such as ISO 14067, the GHG Protocol).
