After two years of measuring and understanding our global carbon footprint, on November 20, 2025, AVI-SPL officially committed to set science-based targets (SBTs) as guided and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We do not step into this commitment lightly.
Our decision follows years of learning, monitoring, and proving that sustainable impact can be achieved through business efficiency and collaboration. We follow a mantra of “impact through efficiency,” and that efficiency extends to partnering with customers and suppliers to develop innovative strategies that reduce our mutual environmental footprints.
SBTi is a voluntary corporate climate action organization. It enables companies worldwide to play their part in mitigating climate change in a measurable and transparent way. Companies pledge to set near-term or Net Zero targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, aligning with the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
Science-based targets, or SBTs, reference the latest climate research from top global scientists to quantify how much a company needs to cut its emissions to shrink its carbon footprint and help keep global warming in check. SBTs are essentially a company’s fair share of the global effort required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
To date, more than 11,000 companies have registered their commitment or science-based targets with SBTi. While this may seem like a relatively small number of companies worldwide, this group represents more than a third of the Fortune Global 500 and roughly 25% of global revenue and over 40% of the global market capitalization. AVI-SPL joins this cohort not only to do our fair share but to also help our customers and suppliers achieve their sustainability goals.
By transforming how we manage real estate, streamline our supply chain, and operate globally, we have already reduced our carbon footprint in meaningful, replicable ways. We established our carbon inventory baseline, set a short-term two-year reduction goal, and achieved it with significant reductions across our Scope 1 and 2 emissions and progress on Scope 3 as well. Now that this foundation is in place, we’re ready to scale our results and make our SBT commitment official.
Our goal is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by approximately two-thirds over the next seven years. That will take consistent effort, visionary innovation, and the support of our entire community. The value, though, is both environmental and business-critical: greater efficiency, cost savings, data-driven scalability, expanded partnerships, and strengthened trust through transparency.
Our stakeholders will see our progress firsthand through our annual ESG Impact Report and through SBTi’s public portal. Sharing our data openly builds confidence that we’re doing what we say we will. That transparency, in turn, strengthens every relationship we have.
Aligning our operations and solutions with the SBTi framework reflects more than our environmental ambition. We’re not just reducing our own emissions; we’re helping customers and suppliers reduce theirs. Many of our customers and suppliers have already set or are working toward their own SBTs.
We know that addressing indirect (Scope 3) emissions is one of the most complex challenges any company faces. But it’s also the greatest opportunity. By co-creating solutions with our supply-chain partners and customers, we can accelerate innovation that drives measurable reductions across the entire technology ecosystem. That’s how we’ll achieve the triple bottom line: benefiting people, planet, and profit together.
As a global integrator that sits in the middle of the value chain between technology manufacturers and end-user organizations, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to align and combine our decarbonization efforts. When we do, we lead by example, and we multiply the magnitude of our impact.
So far, these collaborations have resulted in the development of Eco-Friendly Reference Designs, the launch of pilot electronics recycling services, and the creation of our first renewable energy roadmap, which will go into effect in 2026. The Eco-Friendly Reference Designs are preconfigured meeting room solutions that feature verified product carbon footprint (PCF) data, low-energy operating modes, and simplified PoE connectivity to reduce material and energy use. Electronics recycling services are now available nationwide in the U.S., with plans to expand to the UK and Europe in 2026. In addition, our renewable energy purchases will help further reduce Scope 2 emissions.
We believe collaboration is the only path to meaningful progress. The work ahead will require deep partnerships, open data sharing, and co-innovation across our global ecosystem. We’re up for the challenge and invite you to join us.
At AVI-SPL, we passionately believe we have a responsibility to do good for people and our planet. We often talk about giving back where we live and work, honoring our core value to thrive together. Committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) ensures that the way we operate benefits everyone in our ecosystem: our customers, our partners, our employees, and the natural world we share.
This is our way of giving back on a global scale. It’s also our invitation to others in the AV and IT industries: join us. Together, we can turn sustainability commitments into collective impact that has the power to transform the world.
