Corporate Sustainability in Action: Protecting Forests, Preventing Emissions
In 2025, AVI-SPL initiated a groundbreaking United Nations REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) project in Ecuador as part of its global decarbonization strategy. In collaboration with the Shuar people and sustainability consultancy 2050 Advisors, the project protects over 140,000 hectares (345,000 acres) of Amazonian rainforest, one of Earth’s most biodiverse and threatened regions.
By preventing deforestation, protecting biodiversity, and preserving one of the planet’s richest carbon sinks, the initiative will generate high-integrity carbon and nature credits while supporting ecosystem services, Shuar livelihoods, and long-term climate resilience.
